Demand Response

BGE operates residential Demand Response Programs under Rider 15 – Demand Response Service and Rider 26 – Peak Time Rebate of BGE’s Electric Service Rates and Tariffs. These programs are designed to reduce electric load in BGE’s service territory. BGE’s Demand Response Programs typically occur during periods of high load and/or high wholesale energy prices during the summer season. In return for reducing their electricity use, BGE provides credits to customers who participate in the programs and monetizes these reductions in PJM.

Customers who buy electricity from an electricity supplier can participate in the Company’s Demand Response programs and will receive credits from BGE. A customer choosing to participate in Demand Response and/or or Dynamic Pricing Programs offered by a licensed third party may not participate in BGE’s demand response programs.
